Monsoon is the special Indian season between summer and autumn with heavy rainfall. It is a special time of the year and affects people uniformly. And since the surroundings are so dreary and dull, it is all the more important to wear clothes that would uplift the mood. Colours that are bright enough to challenge the depressing surroundings and fabrics that are comfortable enough to let the skin breathe in the moisture ridden atmosphere.
This year, in monsoon bright vibrant colours will be a common favourite among old and young alike. Whether in sarees, salwar-kameez or churridar in traditional Indian fabrics or skirts, blouses, capris and other western outfits, whatever the personal preference maybe. An orange, yellow, green, yellow or red is anyday preferable to pastel shades. One could wear a mix of traditional and Indian clothes like pants or capris with kurtis and team them with bright scarfs or duppattas. No one can go wrong on bright colours around this time.
Bright hues could take away the blues. Rightly said, it is that time of the year when romance is in the air and every heart sings. It is the season of love as shown by most Bollywood romances. So one needs to dress to match the mood when the mood is affected by continuous rain.
This time of the year, it is fashionable to carry plastics bags. This is not the season for silks or velvets. So this monsoon, try clothes that are made of easy to dry fabrics such as georgette or crepes in bright colours and comfortable styles. It is trendy to wear shorts, skirts or other variations to deal with splashes from puddles. Also always carry a trendy raincoat or an umbrella to avoid getting drenched and looking like a scarecrow.
In monsoon 2012, stick to footwear that allows the skin to breathe, flip flops or rain boats in bright colours that would go with very type of clothing and protect the feet very well. This season, experiment with clothes, shoes and accessories, try a new look. The bold and the beautiful are the ones that will take the center stage.
