Saree in the New Age

Saree, the most favoured garment of Indian women for centuries, is also the most traditional and elegant garment out of all the clothes worn by woman in the country. These days a saree is available and can be worn in different styles.

Today women are rushed off their feet to balance their career, families and children, leaving very little time for personal grooming. Since the new age Indian woman has come out of the four walls of her house and with her current lifestyle, she wants everything on the word go. In such times, the saree itself and the ways it can be worn has undergone a huge change. One of the most common forms of newage saree is the ready pleated saree. This is a special saree that looks just like the traditional saree but has pleats already stitched and can be worn without an extra effort of pleating and wearing.

Another type of saree that is attracting a lot of attention is the designer saree that is made to be worn in new styles. They are sometimes worn over the shoulder or knotted over the shoulder or tied to the wrist. Styles might change but the indisputable fact is that a saree is still the most elegant garment for Indian women. In this age when traditions might be dying out, the preference for sarees over other outfits for important occansions like weddings or other ceremonies reflects that the saree has evolved overtime to suit the needs of the modern women.

Also these are days of extreme fashion and though a saree is still the most favoured garment for Indian women, it can now be seen in new avatars and worn in stylish new age ways. Designer sarees which are such a vogue thesedays are an example of true Indian craftsmanship. They are available in many styles and patterns. No longer there are only traditional sarees at one’s disposal.
